The Space
Our farm is located on a quiet, rural dirt road, surrounded by forest and edged by a babbling brook. Here, my mother and I, as well as a crew of seasonal interns, work to realize a vision for our 13 acres in which the land both provides for our survival needs and is made healthier in the process. You can help support this vision by staying with us! Built in 1812, our farm house is rustic, though well kept. The bedroom itself is separate from the other downstairs living spaces and has a private feel. Our friendly Border Collie, Elka, will greet you as you arrive. In your free time, head over to the animal barn to say hi to our goats, sheep, chickens, duck, horses and livestock guardian dogs. Clearly, being an animal lover is a must for this farm stay. Ancient Ponies Farm is a Superhost! Superhosts are experienced, highly rated hosts who are committed to providing great stays for guests. |

"Zoe and co-hosts's working farm is a great place to stay when visiting the Amherst area. The room in which I stayed has a super-comfortable bed, a wall full of interesting books, and a generous writing desk. It overlooks a barn and yard across the street with all variety of friendly four-legged creatures. This is a place apart, perfect for visitors who need to catch up on sleep, get some work done, or look ahead. It strikes a rare, ineffable balance between tranquility and energy. Zoe took time from the (demanding, non-stop) work of running a multi-faceted farm to show me in and chat about aspects of their approach, and was altogether the gracious host. I have stayed in summer and winter, and would recommend it to anyone, in any season." - Joel, January 2024
"Zoe is a great host. We've talked about foraging, farming, and I little about cheese making. I've come back multiple times because it's such a peaceful atmosphere and the price is one of the best in the area." -Jake, July 2023
"This is a magical place to stay! Everything from arrival to the comfort of the bed to the ease of coming and going to looking out the window and seeing the animals eating in the morning was charming. It’s also wonderfully quiet there - very few or even no cars passing in the night. It’s also remarkably well heated for a house in the country on three very cold winter nights it was still comfy.Zoe is a fantastic host and goes out of her way if you ask her for anything extra and at the same time leaves you to yourself if that’s what you want. We had an absolutely beautiful stay there and cannot recommend it more highly." - Tina, January 2020
